Ross Creek Organic Farm is now taking orders for 2025 nuc sales. Each nuc colony contains at least three deep Langstroth style frames of capped brood and honeybees with a new recently mated, laying queen bee and two frames of drawn comb with some pollen and honey.
We regularly participate in local events in Central Texas, whether it is to mentor beekeepers at local bee club’s monthly meetings, to present Beekeeping & Agricultural exemption solutions to the local community, or even speak at a conference on homesteading and food sovereignty. About Ross Creek Organic Farm
My name is Bruce Ford. I live with my family on a 16 acre organic farm in central Texas where I practice with different compost designs, microbial brewing with compost and soil microbe philosophy, beekeeping, rainwater catchment, radio communication, growing native plants, herbs and medicinal plants by propagation from seeds and cuttings.
I aim to sustainably farm so that the environment (nature, humans, and animals) within and around the farm is not impacted and I am on a mission to help communities become more resilient and independent from global food supply chains, through implementation of beekeeping and food sovereignty solutions.
“My husband and I started working with Bruce Ford in 2020 in order to secure agricultural status on our small acreage tract. Since that time, Bruce has continued to be a wealth of information with regards to setting up and maintaining bee yards, best food sources to grow for bees to forage, how to identify and resolve issues to ensure the health of the hive, what to do in severe weather conditions to prepare and/or protect your hive, etc. He also continues to amaze us with his intelligence, experience, helpfulness, ingenuity, integrity, and educational opportunities for learning more. He is a true blessing to our homestead and in our lives!”

“Working with Bruce has been a terrific experience. He’s committed to the quality of his work, and basics are well covered: the bee boxes look great, the bees and starter frames are robust, and as part of installation Bruce rechecks boxes after a few days to ensure that queens are present and all is well. He works with clients and the tax appraisal office to ensure Ag exemption requirements are met. And beyond this, if you (like me) are curious and interested to learn about bees and beekeeping, you couldn’t hope for a better mentor in the noble art of beekeeping! Bruce is a gifted, enthusiastic and clear-eyed teacher. And so, what started as a “box to check” to obtain the Ag exemption for our property in New Ulm has turned out to be a joy and an adventure!”

“In January 2023 I decided I wanted to be a beekeeper both to help the struggling bee population and hopefully in a few years receive an Ag exemption. The problem was I knew nothing about setting up an apiary. At my first Bastrop County Beekeepers meeting I had the great pleasure of meeting Bruce Ford. Bruce quickly became my friend and mentor. He patiently answered all the questions I had and explained to me what we needed to do to accomplish my goals. By spring he had me set up with my first colonies of bees. When you meet Bruce, you instantly understand that he loves what he does. He loves to teach and help others become good stewards of the bees and our land. Bruce continues to teach me how to best care for my bee yard. He has great knowledge, passion, and a desire to make others successful beekeepers. If you are considering becoming a beekeeper whether as a business venture, for pleasure, or to seek an Ag status for your property I would highly recommend you contact Bruce Ford. He has been a blessing for me!”
